This 2026, Tabacalera Palma and its brand, La Galera, celebrate 90 years of history with the launch of a line of Dominican puros presented in three vitolas, featuring estate-grown tobaccos from three of their four farms.
According to José Arnaldo Jochy Blanco, CEO of the company, the new releases include a box-pressed Figurado format –a concept that virtually does not exist on the market– as well as a traditional Toro and a regular Box-pressed vitola.
Although their proprietary brand has been around for a decade, the official founding of the tobacco company dates back to 1936, when José Arnaldo Blanco II, Jochy’s father, initiated a legacy that is currently on track to join the exclusive list of centenarian companies within the premium tobacco industry.
The 90th Anniversary line will hit the market starting in June, offering consumers a special selection of fillers and wrappers from the Cibao valley, featuring a blend that incorporates leaves produced on the family’s farms.
Looking ahead to the coming years, Jochy remains positive and confident that the tradition will continue through future generations, a prime example being the various blends he has already developed alongside his son, José Manuel.
