Born from his experience and the lands he visited, a master creation was brewing in Ismael Oliván’s creative mind: a cigar featuring as many tobacco varieties as possible within the blend. He had fourteen, but was missing three, meaning it wouldn’t be a true Around the World (which includes leaves from Spain, France, and Greece), but it was certainly a marvel.
While visiting the Rodríguez Oliván Cigar Factory (R.O.C.F.), an Arab tourist had the opportunity to try the blend. That spectacular smoke inspired him to turn it into Marvel, the exclusive cigar for his personal club.
Beyond its curated selection of tobaccos, the cigar is adorned with a double band crafted using four gold leaves, incorporating a subtle portion of real gold into its color mixture.
The Marvel blend consists of a Brazilian Arapiraca Oscuro wrapper, a Pennsylvania Broadleaf binder, and a long filler that includes 12 leaf varieties: Dominican, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Italy, Transylvania, Bulgaria, and Indonesia.
In the bunching process, the filler harvested from the heart of each leaf alternates secos and visos wrapped around the ligero using accordion, entubado, and embutido techniques. Furthermore, a spiral rolling technique turns the cigar into a roller coaster of flavor.
As a testament to what smoking a Marvel can be, the cigar earned the top spot in Whiskey Network magazine’s rankings.
