Procigar Introduces an Immersive Experience to Dominican and Tobacco Culture

By @Frangellgram

The Association of Dominican Cigar Manufacturers (PROCIGAR), together with the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Museums, and the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum, officially introduced to the press the Immersive Experience: Santiago de los Caballeros and the Tobacco Tradition, an educational and cultural initiative that combines technological innovation, heritage-based content, and a 360-degree perspective on the identity of Santiago.

The initiative was developed as part of the collaboration agreement between PROCIGAR and the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum, with the aim of bringing both national and international visitors closer to the historical, artistic, and cultural richness of the Heart City.

Through Meta Quest headsets, visitors will experience four audiovisual productions highlighting the tobacco tradition as part of the Dominican Republic’s cultural heritage, the murals of renowned artist José Vela Zanetti, Santiago’s cultural tourism, and the historical legacy of the Restoration War, including the connection between the Monument Museum and the Capotillo Cry Monument.

“For PROCIGAR, supporting this immersive experience reaffirms our commitment to Dominican culture. Premium cigars are an emblem of the Dominican Republic around the world, but they also represent history, tradition, craftsmanship, and national pride. We are honored to be part of a project that educates, preserves, and showcases the very best of our identity,” said Litto Gómez, Vice President of PROCIGAR.

For her part, María Belissa Ramírez, Director of the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, stated: “PROCIGAR not only made a new experience possible for our visitors; it also contributed to preserving the very place where this history is told. Today we celebrate a partnership that protects our heritage while creating new ways to share it.”

The experience will remain open to the public as a permanent attraction at the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration Museum. It will be available for individual visitors, organized groups, as well as schools, universities, and institutions through the museum’s reservation system.

As part of its launch and within the framework of the 162nd Anniversary of the Restoration War, during the months of July and August, individuals born in the province of Santiago will be able to enjoy this experience free of charge by presenting a valid identification document.
