Recognizing Women Who Strengthen Culture and Community Through Cigar Spaces
The Sisters of the Leaf Global Movement (SOTL) announces the launch of the SOTL Cultural Ambassador role, a global initiative recognizing women who actively shape welcoming, trusted, and community-driven standards within cigar culture.
Founded in 2017, SOTL has consistently worked to make women’s leadership visible within cigar culture. The SOTL Cultural Ambassador role formalizes this reality by recognizing female leadership expressed through everyday practice, not titles, promotion, or visibility.
The initiative has already begun with more than 25 Cultural Ambassadors, representing countries, regions, and U.S. states, with additional ambassadors to be introduced gradually. Each Ambassador serves as a trusted reference point for her local cigar culture, supporting Women-Friendly Cigar Destinations and building bridges with local cultural, civic, and community organizations beyond cigar spaces.
“The SOTL Cultural Ambassador role invites women to recognize the leadership already within them through a clear and purposeful pathway,” said Dr. Anastasia Psomiadi, Founder of the SOTL Global Movement. “Grounded in Social Psychology, practice-based leadership, and lived community experience, this initiative honors women’s leadership as it is practiced in real life. Our role is to give that leadership visibility, shared language, and practical tools that support personal growth and community impact.”
As part of the initiative, Cultural Ambassadors receive global recognition, an official title and digital badge, profile features on SOTL platforms, and participation in international SOTL projects and gatherings. As a first step, Ambassadors engage with the Women-Friendly Cigar Destination project, developed in response to requests from women and cigar lounges, by identifying and recognizing cigar spaces that demonstrate inclusive culture through conduct and standards.
