In Puerto Rico, The Resistance continues. The legacy of José Gabriel Cruz Ayala, El Chan, endures not only through the efforts of his wife and partner, Liz Janice López, but also through the daily work of the self-proclaimed Los Hijos de La Hoja del Chan (Sons of La Hoja del Chan): Jonathan Delgado, Mario Córdova, Héctor González, Lino Ramírez, and Sandra Matos.

Thus, in addition to El Chan Cigars and Galiz, brands like Mr. Jony Cigars, Cigarros Córdova, San Pedrito, and Lin San Cigars have joined the ranks. Their owners –trained by Gaby– are part of a movement that began in 2017, aimed at revitalizing the tobacco tradition in the former Borinquen, bringing back to the island a heritage that was once the livelihood of every family.
Following the unfortunate passing of El Chan, all of them have taken up the mantle with the conviction that “together, anything can be achieved.” The foundation for creating a 100% Puerto Rican cigar is now stronger than ever.
